It was a busy week for Gabe Sommers, who competed in the Wisconsin Challenge Series race on Wednesday, July 4th at Golden Sands Speedway, the second round of the Triple Crown at Madison International Speedway on Friday, July 6th and the TUNDRA Series race at State Park Speedway on Saturday, July 7th.  Overall, Sommers earned one top-ten finish and remains the Rookie of the Year leader in the TUNDRA Series.

“I think it helps to race this much in one week,” said Sommers.  “It helps learn more things and stay in the game for longer periods of time.”

The Plover, WI driver debuted a new car at Madison on Friday, but electrical issues during practice and the race kept them from a solid finish.

“We got to run the new car and are working on getting that settled in for the Dixieland 250,” said Sommers.

After what Sommers called a disappoint finish at State Park Speedway on June 28th, the 15-year-old driver was pleased to bring home a seventh-place finish with the TUNDRA Series at the Wausau, WI track on Saturday.

“It was a really good day and we made strides forward from the last time we were here,” said Sommers.  “We really gained a lot of knowledge about State Park and what to do with the set-up for the longer run. I think it will be even better the next race there.”

Sommer is back on track again this Saturday, July 14th at Dells Raceway Park for the third round of the Alive for Five Series.
