Gabe Sommers brought home a 12th place finish in the first Wisconsin Challenge Series (WCS) race of the year at State Park Speedway.  The 15-year-old driver qualified 13th and held steady just outside the top-ten all night to earn a 12th place finish with the Kwik Trip Wysocki Family of Companies Allied Cooperative No. 15.

“Honestly I’m a little disappointed,” said Sommers.  “I thought we’d run a little better than that, it just wasn’t our night.  Hopefully we learned a few things for when we race here again next weekend.”

Thursday night at State Park Speedway was the start of a busy 10 days for the Plover, WI driver.  He heads to Golden Sands Speedway on Wednesday to finish up the second round of the WCS.  Sommers will pick up where he left off from the race’s original date of June 15th, which was shortened by weather. He will roll off from the eighth position Wednesday night.

From there, Sommers heads to Madison International Speedway on Friday night for round two of the Triple Crown Series before concluding the stretch back at State Park Speedway on Saturday, July 7th for the TUNDRA race.

Sommers currently sits fifth in TUNDRA points and leads their Rookie of the Year standings.
