Gabe Sommers saw a solid run come to an early end at Dells Raceway Park (WI) for the third race of the Alive for Five Series Saturday night.  The Plover, WI driver practiced in the top-ten all afternoon and qualified 12th, locking himself into the show on time.  After starting just outside the top-ten, he worked his way up as high at seventh.  Late race contact resulted in Sommers spinning, ending his day early and a 19th place finish.

“We had a really good run going and were good in practice and qualifying,” said Sommers.  “In the race I started on the outside and got shuffled back.  I couldn’t fall into place, it was a tight field.  When I got back up to ninth place I got wheel hopped, spun out and then was hit from the side and that ended our day.”

Next up for Sommers is the TUNDRA Series race at Jefferson Speedway (WI) on Saturday, July 21st.  Sommers currently ninth in series points and leads the Rookie of the Year standings.
