Gabe Sommers completed a solid weekend of racing with a third-place finish Saturday at Marshfield Motor Speedway in the second round of the Wisconsin Challenge Series.  The Plover, WI driver picked up wins at Dells Raceway Park the weekend before and at Golden Sands Speedway the night prior.  After setting fast time in Marshfield earlier in the day, he capped off a string of good runs with a podium finish.

“We had a really good run at Marshfield,” said Sommers.  “I felt we had a second-place car, we just needed a late race caution.  It feels really good to run how we have been the last two weeks, so hopefully we can carry that out for the rest of the year.”

Next-up for Sommers is a trip to Jefferson Speedway with the TUNDRA series on Saturday, July 20th.  The 16-year-old driver struggled a little bit at the Jefferson, WI track earlier this year, finishing 15th with the Midwest Tour.  However, he’s found success since then and is ready for another shot at it.

“I feel like we will have a good car on Saturday,” said Sommers.  “It will be very hot, so the weekend starts now with hydration and trying to get as used to the heat as possible.  I learned a lot of things there last time, like needing to keep the tires and brakes cool for the end of the race.  I think we’ll come back better this time and can contend for a win.”

Qualifying will take place at 5:00pm on Saturday with racing at 7:00pm.
