PLOVER, WI – (for immediate release)

Gabe Sommers Racing is remaining inside of the state of Wisconsin to go racing for the first time this year. A quick journey east finds the crew ready to wage war at the infamous Slinger Super Speedway for the ASA Midwest Tour opener. The “Miracle on the High Banks” will be contested on Sunday April 23rd, and serve as the first page of the next chapter in ASA racing here in the Midwest.

Slinger presents a plethora of oddities not found anywhere else in the short track world. Steep banking all the way around the ¼ mile speedway provides for close knit, gloves off racing that forces finesse by the driver at every corner. “The setup we bring is a lot different from our usual package, Slinger is just a completely different animal than anywhere else we go,” Gabe noted. “That being said, it makes it a little trickier for us to develop a thicker notebook for the track since we don’t race here often.”

Gabe ran well in the Midwest Tour’s first trip to the speedway in 2022, running inside the Top 5 for most of the race before settling for a fifth place finish. With only three career starts at Slinger, he looks to ride an upward trend of good finishes and a clean racecar at the end of the race, in addition to gaining seat time for the STARS Tour’s inaugural visit to Slinger in July.

You can watch Gabe and the GSR crew tackle Slinger Super Speedway and the stars of the ASA Midwest Tour on Sunday April 23rd, in person or on MidwestTour.tv. Qualifying is at 12:05 PM, with opening ceremonies at 1:45 PM (CST).
